Seeking: part-time Development Associate for growing arts organization
ABOUT THE WHIDBEY ISLAND CENTER FOR THE ARTS
Established through a grassroots effort to bring arts programming to the Whidbey Island community, Whidbey Island Center for the Arts (WICA) opened its doors in 1996. As Island County’s largest arts employer, WICA is a producing organization that brings local, national, and international experiences to its campus in Langley, Washington. WICA’s mission is to enrich lives by creating powerful shared experiences in the arts and the organization centers its programming around five areas of concentration: music, theatre, visual art, dance, and humanities. SALARY/BENEFITS:
Competitive/commensurate with experience and other qualifications. Four paid holidays, three days paid PTO, Washington State Sick Leave Tracking, flexible work schedule, and a bonus structure tied to job performance.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Development Associate is an entry level position in the newly established development department at WICA. The Development Associate will be a skilled communicator and analyst, working in a variety of ways to support and execute WICA’s fundraising efforts, utilizing an existing development plan and building upon that over time. The Development Associate will also work closely with senior WICA staff and report directly to the Executive Artistic Director. This is a part-time position for 16 to 20 hours per week, with the possibility of expanded hours as mutually agreed to.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
Complete deliverables with a hands-on approach, including drafting letters, e-mails, and other tasks to assist in effectively supporting fundraising efforts.
Execute annual giving communications, including mailings and solicitations. Donor tracking software is SPEKTRIX.
Coordinate, execute the logistics for, and attend the annual gala and other fundraising-related events. Gala event software is currently Greater Giving.
Attend and support Development Committee meetings, assisting with meeting the Development Committee’s goals.
Alongside the Managing Director, help oversee fundraising database and tracking system, including donor acknowledgments and ensuring data integrity.
Manage data analysis and reporting, providing transparent and regular fundraising updates to the Board and Executive Artistic Director. Running donor and sponsorship reports as needed for senior leadership.
Cultivate donor relationships, communicating with donors and sponsors to maintain strong relationships.
Assist with major gifts programs, foundation relations, endowments, estate gifts, and planned giving.
Generate sponsorship, ad sales, and grant support.
PREFERRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficient in data entry systems and reporting.
Experience with customer relationship management database systems.
Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and follow through with minimal direction.
Attention to detail, project management experience, and strong organizational skills.
Nonprofit experience is preferred, but WICA will train the right candidate.
Flexibility in varied job duties and a willingness to pitch in when/where needed.
Upbeat, positive attitude and a good sense of humor are a plus.
